Cost & FAQs
You may be wondering why not just shoot digital photos? Hopefully I can answer this for you here.
Why Film Photography?
Film is back! In my opinion, Film photography is the most human form of photography there is. When capturing photos on film there is an element of delayed gratification. I can't snap a picture, immediately go back and decide if I want to delete it or keep it. This forces me to make every shot count and think about the frame before I take the photo. That film result remains a secret until it is brought out in a chemical process in a photo lab. There is an element of life to film that digital will never capture. You can add filters to emulate film, but it will still just be a digital photo with a filter. Some may say film does not create the most clean and perfect image. I say that is exactly what makes film special.
How long does it take to get my photos back?
This will all be discussed when we dive into the cost of your project. I am working with a local film lab to develop the film. The lab does offer rushed delivery if your project is on a strict deadline. For those not in a rush, usually you will receive your film scans in 4-5 business days.
How much does it cost?
This will be discussed when we dive into the specifics of your project needs. A roll of 35mm film will result in 36 images. Based on the amount of photos you need to create, and what type of film you choose will determine the final cost. At this time my rates will be comparable to a digital photo session from other photographers, as I am new to the game. That means a better price for you!
Please refer to this price list for a idea of pricing. Pricing is subject to change based on the project requirements. Please email me with your project details so we can come to a fair agreement.
Will I own my Copyright?
This will be a topic of discussion during planning. I am willing to work as a "Work for Hire" photographer if needed
What type of film can I choose?
Currently, I have the capabilities to shoot any style of 35mm film. Film stocks vary in price, grain size, and style. During the planning process we will discuss what type of film style you would like to see for your project
Can you take digital photos just in case?!?!
Yes, if the film process causes anxiety I can take some digital photos to make sure we got the shot. Please note, if I make a mistake and ruin a roll of film on your project I will refund any cost back to you. Or reshoot at no extra cost to you.
